by | Apr 28, 2026 | Health, Research

Strength training is one of the most effective strategies for healthy aging and longevity. Prof. Dr. Dr. Jürgen Gießing will point this out in a free online webinar on May 6, 2026.

Under the title “Longevity begins in the muscle – Why strength training can have a life-prolonging effect”, the sports scientist will provide in-depth insights into current research results from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Gießing is Professor of Sports Science and heads the Department of Training Science and Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau. His research focuses on high-intensity training, health-oriented muscle training and muscle metabolism. In his current book “Reverse Aging”, he deals with the influence of training and nutrition on age-related degradation processes.

The webinar will focus on the prevention of sarcopenia – age-related muscle loss – and the role of muscles as a central metabolic organ. Recent studies show that regular strength training in combination with targeted nutrition and sensibly used supplements can slow down and in some cases even reverse degenerative aging processes.

The webinar is aimed at all interested parties who would like to receive practical impulses for vital aging. Participation is free of charge and non-binding. Registration is requested.

The IST webinar will take place on May 6, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
