Teddy Clinic Ulm takes in injured cuddly toys again
The “Teddy Docs” of Ulm University are once again taking care of sick and injured cuddly toys. The campaign is intended to playfully take away children’s fear of visiting the doctor and staying in hospital.
In the Teddy Clinic, kindergarten and primary school children slip into the role of parents and accompany their dolls and teddy bears through various examinations. They can help with urine tests, X-rays or even minor operations. They are supported by around 120 medical students of human medicine, molecular medicine and dentistry.
The students were previously specially trained in dealing with children. New this year are offers from speech therapists with movement and language games as well as a large “organ teddy” with replica organs in original size. A real ambulance can also be visited.
The open consultation hour will take place on Tuesday, June 9, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Eselsberg Civic Center and is accessible to children and parents without registration. The Teddy Clinic is organized by the Medical Student Council and is an integral part of the summer semester.
