Potential instead of deficit: New study sheds light on the synergetic connection between ADHD and creativity
ADHD is often seen only as a disorder. A new study now focuses on the creative potential of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and shows a close synergistic connection between ADHD and increased creativity.
According to the study, people with ADHD benefit particularly from characteristics such as divergent thinking, a rapid flood of ideas and the ability to hyperfocus intensively in interesting fields of activity. Under suitable conditions, these characteristics can lead to extraordinary creative and innovative achievements.

The study argues that ADHD should no longer be viewed exclusively in a deficit-oriented way, but should be understood as a neurodivergent variant with specific strengths. Such a change of perspective could change diagnostics, therapy and social perception in the long term.
The results open up new possibilities for resource-oriented support for those affected and underline that ADHD can also mean potential instead of just deficit.
