The DGAI thus honours personalities who have had a significant impact on the development of the discipline in Germany and internationally. At the award ceremony, DGAI President Prof. Dr. Gernot Marx emphasized that the honorees stand for innovation, responsibility and the transfer of knowledge to future generations. Their contributions contribute to the continuous improvement of patient care.

Graf’s scientific work focuses on the effects of inhaled anesthetics, ECMO procedures and medical simulation. His research on the stereoselectivity of anesthetics and the toxicology of local anesthetics has made a significant contribution to the approval of the active ingredient ropivacaine in Germany. As the long-standing state chairman of the DGAI in Bavaria, a member of the Extended Presidium and several times President of the Capital Congress, he has shaped the society over the years and strengthened its scientific profile. He is also involved in the development of central medical guidelines.
