World Fragrance Day: Support for people with CRSwNP

by | Jun 27, 2025 | Health, Research

World Fragrance Day on June 27, 2025 focuses on the importance of smells, which evoke memories, trigger emotions and provide orientation in everyday life. For people like Jannes, who suffer from chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps(CRSwNP), this perception is often severely limited. The condition leads to a blocked nose, constant runny nose and often a loss of the ability to smell, which puts a considerable strain on everyday life.

CRSwNP can cause sleep disturbances, pain and a permanent feeling of illness, which affects the psyche, concentration and social relationships. Jannes, who found a suitable treatment after several operations and therapies, shares three insights: Firstly, a chronic illness is not the end of the world, as early medical help and individual therapy concepts can help. Secondly, there are alternatives to surgery, such as modern biologics, which specifically combat inflammation and can be used for recurring nasal polyps. Thirdly, those affected are not alone – platforms such as the Instagram channel @neustart_nase and the website www.aktiv-gegen-nasenpolypen.de offer exchange, information on diagnostics and therapies as well as support from a community.

The basic therapy for CRSwNP includes saline or cortisone nasal sprays and occasional cortisone tablets, but surgery is not always the only solution. Biologics offer new options, especially when symptoms persist after surgery. World Scent Day emphasizes the importance of scent for quality of life and how essential education and community are for those affected. Sanofi, a research-based biopharmaceutical company, is helping to improve the quality of life of people with CRSwNP through innovative therapeutic approaches and AI-powered research.
