MedLab tip: Leopoldina symposium on technology and AI in medicine

by | Sep 19, 2025 | Health, Research

On October 11, 2025, a full-day symposium of the Radiology Section of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina will take place in Halle (Saale). Under the motto “Technology and AI in medicine. Unleashing Innovation – Unraveling Bureaucracy: The Fine Line of Regulation”, experts from science, healthcare, industry, politics and patient advocacy will discuss the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in medicine. The aim is to identify structural hurdles and promote innovation-friendly framework conditions.

“The further development of modern technologies in medicine has achieved astonishing successes in recent decades and, with the help of artificial intelligence, opens up a wide field of new possibilities for diagnostics and treatment,” says Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Anca-L. Grosu, Senator of Section 21 Radiology of the Leopoldina and Medical Director of the Clinic for Radiation Medicine at the University Medical Center Freiburg. Grosu invites to the symposium together with Deputy Senator Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Maximilian Reiser.

The program includes lectures on current developments and challenges in medical diagnostics and therapy, in particular on regulatory requirements, the interface between research and care, and the role of industry. Perspectives from politics and patient representation will be brought in in discussion rounds in order to develop concrete approaches for future-oriented medicine in Germany. The event at the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina (Jägerberg 1, 06108 Halle) is free of charge, but requires registration.
