IQWiG publishes preliminary report on the guideline synopsis for the update of the DMP type 2 diabetes mellitus
On behalf of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG ) has identified current evidence-based guidelines on the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in order to compare their recommendations with the Disease Management Program Requirements Directive (DMP-A-RL) and identify any discrepancies. For this preliminary report, a total of 1025 recommendations from 18 current evidence-based guidelines were assigned to the care aspects of the DMP-A-RL for the DMP type 2 diabetes mellitus and compared in terms of content.
Preliminary conclusion: The currently valid appendix on type 2 diabetes mellitus in the DMP-A guidelines is largely in line with the current evidence-based guidelines. For some aspects of the DMP type 2 diabetes mellitus, it could be examined whether there is a need to adapt the DMP.

IQWiG published the report plan for this project on 29.11.2024. Written comments on the preliminary report can be submitted until 04.08.2025. If these leave any questions unanswered, the respondents will be invited to an oral discussion, probably on August 29, 2025. The final report on the project will then be prepared.
