IQWiG celebrates its 20th anniversary and moves to Cologne-Deutz
In 2024, the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG) looked back on an eventful year, marked by its 20th anniversary and the move back to the right bank of the Rhine, the “Schäl Sick”.

The anniversary was celebrated with a parliamentary evening in Berlin and an autumn symposium in Cologne. Both events offered the opportunity to pay tribute to the history of the institute on the basis of a chronicle. After 13 years at MediaPark, IQWiG returned to its former location in Cologne, where it was based in Kalk from 2004 to 2011. The new headquarters in the New Deutz Port on the Rhine is intended as a “home port” to promote exchange with national and international partners.
The 2024 annual report highlights the institute’s most important reports and their impact on health care. For the first time, the report was published completely digitally, supplemented by a conversation with Institute Director Thomas Kaiser, his deputy Michaela Eikermann and moderator Andreas Lange, who reviewed the year and gave an outlook. A PDF version is also available for download.
