Description

The Institute of Laboratory Medicine (ILM) has been anchored in Marburg and Giessen since 2010. The ILM provides round-the-clock laboratory diagnostic analyses for patient care at the University Hospital. Specialist diagnostic laboratories at both sites focus on specific areas. The ILM has particular expertise in the field of immunological diagnostics (acute inflammation, intensive medical monitoring, autoimmune diagnostics, allergology, immunodeficiencies), in particular using liquid chromatography. The Core Facility “Clinical Mass Spectrometry” is affiliated to the Department of Medicine in Marburg. The focus of research is immunology.

In teaching, the institute offers the entire spectrum of medical and scientific courses, including an attractive range of electives with excursions abroad. Clinical traineeships are possible at the ILM. The institute has full authorization for further training as a clinical chemist and as a specialist in laboratory medicine.
