Hentschel Prize 2025 awarded for stroke research
Dr. Laurens Winkelmeier from the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and Dr. Stefano Navarro from the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg were awarded this year’s Hentschel Prize. The Hentschel Foundation’s prize, endowed with 5,000 euros, honors her contributions to stroke research in the areas of prevention, diagnostics and therapy.

The award ceremony took place on World Stroke Day, October 29, 2025, at the Center for Operative Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg. The Hentschel Foundation, which has been awarding the prize annually since 2011, supports scientific progress in the fight against strokes. The foundation calls for donations to support further projects and is recognized as a non-profit organization, which makes donations tax-deductible.
