Health Study Hub integrates data from the German Health Centers
The Health Study Hub of the NFDI4Health initiative makes health data findable and accessible. Information on common diseases from the German Centers for Health Research is now being integrated into the platform, which is driving networked health research.
The reuse of existing research data is becoming increasingly important. The German Centers for Health Research and the NFDI4Health consortium are intensifying their cooperation and expanding the Health Study Hub as a search platform for health metadata. The inclusion of the studies enriches the hub with clinical data and improves visibility and reusability.
The German Centers for Health Research bundle institutions that conduct research on cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, infections, lung diseases, mental and neurodegenerative diseases as well as child and adolescent health. Through the integration, researchers and physicians can access current and completed studies in a bundled manner. The research achievements of the centres are becoming more visible. The cooperation enables access for science, care and the public and promotes open data and knowledge transfer.

The Health Study Hub serves as a central platform for clinical, epidemiological and public health data. It lists metadata, i.e. descriptions of the data sets. Researchers can make data visible or search for diseases. This makes data FAIR, i.e. findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. Currently, the hub comprises about 46,000 studies, instruments and documents. The cooperation further expands the platform.
NFDI4Health is part of the National Research Data Infrastructure, funded by the federal and state governments. The goal is to create an inventory of epidemiological, public health and clinical trial data. The analysis serves to develop therapies, care approaches and prevention. Personal data is protected, security and usability are combined. The consortium consists of 14 partner institutions, with the participation of a further 52 institutions and support from eight national and international institutions.
The German Centers for Health Research are partnerships of research institutions, universities and clinics. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space and the federal states, they fight widespread diseases. Thousands of researchers and physicians work across networks to bring progress to patients faster.
