Dr. med. Jakob Adler, member of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL), will appear at the German Congress for Laboratory Medicine (DKLM) 2025 in Leipzig as a prominent expert on artificial intelligence (AI) in laboratory medicine. As a specialist in laboratory medicine at the IMD Institute for Medical Diagnostics Berlin-Potsdam , he brings in-depth knowledge of the integration of digital tools into clinical practice. His contributions revolve around topics such as AI applications, precision medicine and regulatory frameworks, which are crucial for the future of diagnostics.

Adler, who specialises in analytical methods and data analysis, will moderate two sessions and give several lectures. On October 23 at 11:15 a.m., he will give a lecture on “AI in laboratory analysis – a help or danger?” in the field of science and research. At 12:55 p.m., he will present results on “Indirect reference intervals of parathyroid hormone” with a focus on age- and gender-independent factors in training practice. Later, at 2:10 p.m., he will speak on “Clinical Decision Support Systems in Private Labs – How can they add value?” to shed light on the benefits of decision support in private labs.

Adler studied medicine in Leipzig and Magdeburg, completed his further training as a specialist in laboratory medicine in the laboratory of Prof. Schenk/Dr. Ansorge in Magdeburg and currently works at the Institute of Hemostaseology and Pharmacology (IHP) Berlin and the Institute for Medical Diagnostics (IMD) Berlin. His professional focus is on endocrinological laboratory diagnostics, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and data analysis in the laboratory. He is involved in various professional societies and professional policy associations and founded the "Digital Literacy" working group within the DGKL in 2021. Photo: Private

On October 24 at 09:00 a.m., Adler will lead the session “LLM-based Literature Search and Data Analysis”. At 12:20 p.m., he will demonstrate “Using Large Language Models for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Reporting” in a proof-of-concept. Five minutes later, at 12:25 p.m., he will discuss the implications of the “EU AI Act: What does AI competence mean for the medical laboratory?”. As an author, he will contribute at 12:40 p.m. to “Verification and Comparison of Methods of an ELISA for the Determination of Free Light Chains” in the field of immunology. He will round off the day at 3:15 p.m. with the moderation of the session “AI Tools in Practical Use”, supplemented by his lecture “LLM and Literature Research”.

Adler’s presence underlines the central role of the DGKL in promoting innovative approaches. His work on AI-supported analytics, therapy monitoring and ethical aspects of digitization offers laboratory professionals practical impulses. DKLM 2025, which will take place on October 23 and 24 at the Congress Center Leipzig, will benefit from Adler’s expertise, which is driving the transition from research to everyday applications in precision medicine.
