Scientific breakthroughs include deciphering sleep regulation in fruit flies, AI-powered brain signal decoding for personalized therapies, and curing an HIV patient through stem cell transplantation. In the field of gene and cell therapy, the Berlin Center for Advanced Therapies (BeCAT) was almost completed, and the Berlin Center for Gene and Cell Therapies (BC GCT) started with a groundbreaking ceremony.

Despite reduced public funding and increasing pressure on scientists, Dean Prof. Joachim Spranger emphasizes the importance of academic freedom. 15 Charité researchers are among the world’s most cited scientists, reflecting the diversity and quality of research in areas such as immunology, neuroscience, and virology.
