Artificial intelligence supports joint decision-making in medicine

by | Jun 24, 2025 | Digitization

On June 26, 2025, the white paper “Mit KI zur gemeinsamen Entscheidungsfindung in der Medizin” will be presented on the occasion of the nationwide Digital Day. The practical guide shows how artificial intelligence (AI) can promote patient-centered decision-making (Shared Decision Making, SDM). The virtual event from 12:00 to 12:45 is aimed at patients, relatives and doctors.

The white paper, compiled by an interdisciplinary group of authors, offers practical application examples, for example in preparation for visits to the doctor or treatment decisions. It explains the importance of SDM, highlights the opportunities and challenges of AI in medicine and provides concrete assistance for the use of AI tools such as Chat GPT. The authors’ expertise in medicine, ethics, law, AI technology and patient advocacy guarantees a well-founded approach. The document will be made available free of charge and can be downloaded after the event.

The white paper will be presented by Dr. Sven Jungmann (lead author and physician), Nele von Horsten (patient) and Anja Thelen (project manager, Roche), moderated by Dr. Cornelius Wittal. Questions can be asked via chat during the ZOOM event. Registration is required.

The Digital Day, supported by the “Digital for All” initiative, promotes digital participation in Germany. Roche, a leading pharmaceutical and diagnostics company, is taking part for the fifth time and underlining its commitment to digital innovations in healthcare.
