Armin Soave new President of the German Society of Andrology
Priv.-Doz. Dr. Armin Soave has been the new President of the German Society of Andrology (DGA) since January 1, 2026. The specialist in urology, andrology and sexual medicine (FEBU, FECSM, Clinical Andrologist EAA) was unanimously elected at the general meeting as part of the DGA intensive course on 11 October 2025 in Dortmund. He succeeds Prof. Dr. Sabine Kliesch, who was the first woman to lead the professional society from 2020 to 2025 and did not stand for re-election after the end of her maximum term of office.
Soave is head of the Andrology Department at the Clinic for Dermatology and Venereology and Senior Physician at the Clinic for Urology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. For him, andrology is a matter close to his heart. As president, he wants to strengthen the interdisciplinarity of the discipline, expand the networking of the locations and intensify the cooperation between clinically active andrologists and colleagues in private practice.

“As president, it is my urgent concern to strengthen the interdisciplinarity of andrology, to expand the networking of the different locations and to intensify the cooperation between clinically active andrologists and colleagues in private practice,” emphasizes Soave. Until now, he was responsible for the department of further education and quality assurance on the DGA board. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Daniel Schlager from Freiburg im Breisgau was newly elected for this department at the board election in Dortmund.
Prof. Sabine Kliesch had a significant influence on the DGA in two terms of office. Under her leadership, the professional society gained significant visibility in the public and political perception – especially in the case of andrological diseases such as erectile dysfunction, hormone deficiency diseases, male infertility and reproductive medicine, which are widespread millions of times. She was elected on site as Conference President 2028 and will shape the DGA Annual Meeting 2028.
The 38th Annual Meeting of the DGA will take place from 26 to 28 November 2026 in Düsseldorf.
