IFCC invites you to participate in Global MedLab Week 2026
The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) has called for participation in Global MedLab Week 2026. The annual event takes place from April 20 to 26 and has the theme “A Day At The Lab”. The aim is to recognize the crucial role of laboratory physicians in healthcare worldwide, which has become particularly visible during the pandemic. The Public Relations Committee of the Communications and Publications Division of the Federation has been organizing the event since 2022 and is now seeking support from division heads, committees, working groups, task forces, as well as national representatives of full and affiliate member societies and champions of Global MedLab Week.
In a recent letter, the President of the Federation, the Chairman of the Communications and Publications Division and the Chair of the Public Relations Committee call for active participation. Participants are invited to organize activities such as academic, social or cultural events or submit materials such as audios for podcasts, podcasts, videos and photos. Short video greetings of one to two minutes are intended to motivate the participants. All contributions must fit the topic and present stories from everyday laboratory life. Submissions are possible from January to March 14, 2026.

Detailed guidelines and a platform for submissions are available on the globalmedlabweek.org website. The team offers support via e-mail or WhatsApp. The organisers emphasise the importance of participation to make the event a global success and to celebrate the life-saving impact of the profession. The federation, based in Milano, coordinates the initiative to increase the visibility of laboratory medicine.
Global MedLab Week has become an established platform that highlights the contribution of professionals in laboratory medicine. The pandemic has underlined its central role in diagnosis and patient care. The 2026 theme is intended to shed light on everyday life in the laboratory and bring together contributions from different countries. Participants from divisions and groups can use their content to show the diversity of the profession and raise awareness of their work.
The initiative highlights the need for collaboration in laboratory medicine. With the Global MedLab Week, the federation wants to strengthen the position of the discipline in the long term and inspire young professionals. The participation of national representatives is intended to bring local perspectives and expand global reach. The event could lead to new networks and promote the exchange of best practices.
