DKLM 2025 in Leipzig: Laboratory Medicine Drives Precision Medicine – MedLabPortal Launches Preview Series

by | Sep 23, 2025 | Health, Research

The German Congress of Laboratory Medicine (DKLM) 2025 promises exciting insights into the interface between science and clinical practice. Under the motto “Science for Precision Medicine”, the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL) and the Umbrella Association for Technologists and Analysts in Medicine Germany (DVTA) invite experts from research, clinics and industry to meet on October 23 and 24 at the Congress Center Leipzig (CCL). The two-day event is aimed at laboratory physicians, biomedical analysts and decision-makers to discuss current advances in diagnostics and strengthen networks. The ceremonial opening of the congress will take place on 22 October with the presentation of the MedLabAwards in the Salles de Pologne.

A novelty is the focus on the outstanding role of science as a driver for the implementation of new findings in laboratory medicine. In this way, the media and interested parties will learn how highly complex analytics is advanced in laboratory medicine – from a scientific-technical point of view as well as at the molecular level.

One focus of the congress will be on the role of laboratory medicine in personalized medicine, where diagnostic innovations advance early detection, prevention and therapy optimization. Experts will shed light on topics such as the integration of artificial intelligence into the analysis of multidimensional data, the derivation of new insights into organ interactions from omics datasets, and the translation of scientific principles into everyday patient care. Practical examples from the clinic will show how laboratory results in combination with other clinical information lead to more precise decisions. The organizers emphasize the systemically relevant importance of the discipline for the entire health care system and strive for an intensive exchange that is intended to convey findings to politics and the public.

In addition to specialist lectures and panel discussions, DKLM 2025 will offer a platform for the promotion of young talent: The DGKL will once again award three prestigious science prizes as well as the Margot Schumann Poster Prize to promising talents. In addition, travel grants of 500 euros are available for young researchers up to 35 years of age to facilitate participation. Institutions and companies can present job offers in the foyer to address the shortage of skilled workers in the industry. The congress app will be available from August to make it easier for attendees to access the program and networking options.

In the run-up to the congress, the MedLabPortal, as the official information portal of the DGKL, will start a preview report. Starting today, the platform will provide daily reports on the upcoming event, ranging from background information on key topics to portraits of speakers and advance insights into current studies. The aim is to keep the community and media continuously up to date and to stimulate discourse in advance.

Interested parties can sign up for the free MedLabPortal newsletter via the portal’s website to receive personalized updates. The DGKL thus underlines its claim to make laboratory medicine visible as a dynamic field and, as a leading professional society in this field, to build bridges between science and practice.
