Oncology guideline program launches digital “Guidelines Hub”

by | Jul 23, 2025 | Health, Research

With the Guidelines Hub, the Oncology Guidelines Program has introduced a new digital system that makes all 36 S3 guidelines on the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of oncological diseases centrally accessible for the first time. The platform offers over 6,000 evidence-based recommendations, which are fully searchable and filterable, and replaces static PDF documents with a dynamic, user-friendly tool.

The “Guidelines Hub” enables specialists in clinics and practices to quickly search for active substances, clinical pictures, organ systems or recommendation levels. Changes due to new guideline versions can be recognized at a glance, which facilitates evidence-based decision-making in everyday clinical practice. The system is aimed at all professional groups working in oncology, from doctors and nurses to other specialists, and promotes quality, transparency and efficiency in the care of cancer patients.

The platform marks a milestone in the guideline programme’s ten-year digitalization strategy. Enhancements are planned, such as the integration of clinically relevant research questions to support future evidence-based recommendations. A search and filter function for over 280 oncological quality indicators is also being developed. In the medium term, patient guidelines that can be understood by laypersons are also to be integrated in order to make it easier for patients and their relatives to access scientifically sound information and to promote joint decision-making during treatment.

The guidelines program sees the “Guidelines Hub” as the basis for further innovations and is already working on new functions to further improve oncology care.
