Central laboratory at Frankfurt University Hospital

Description

The central laboratory is a joint facility in the Center of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital Frankfurt and is dedicated to patient care. The acute laboratory in the Neurology and Neurosurgery Center, which also operates around the clock, is part of the Central Laboratory. In addition to routine and emergency diagnostics, the range of services offered by the central laboratory also includes special diagnostics, i.e. intensive medical monitoring, acute inflammation, hematological-oncological diseases, allergology and cerebrospinal fluid diagnostics, for internal outpatient and inpatient care as well as for external patient care. The central laboratory is responsible for point-of-care testing (POCT), i.e. patient-oriented laboratory diagnostics directly at the patient’s bedside, in the operating theater, in the intensive care unit or in the outpatient clinic in accordance with the applicable guidelines, regulations and laws.

The central laboratory participates in the hospital’s research projects as well as in other research projects. The central laboratory is also authorized to provide further training for specialists in laboratory medicine.
