Institute for Clinical Chemistry - Central Laboratory, Hannover Medical School

Description

The Institute of Clinical Chemistry – Central Laboratory at Hannover Medical School, together with specialized laboratories, provides the entire spectrum of laboratory medicine and clinical chemistry for the medical care of the MHH hospital around the clock. This includes around seven million analyses in the fields of clinical chemistry, hematology, hemostaseology, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM)/toxicology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, immunology and molecular diagnostics. Transplantation medicine is one of the MHH’s specialties. Accordingly, the determination of immunosuppressants is a major focus of the institute. Using liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry coupling (LC-MS/ MS) and automatic sample preparation, almost 70,000 samples are analyzed each year – more than in any other German university hospital.

The Institute’s teaching focuses on the “Course for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine”. Prof. Dr. med. Korbinian Brand holds full authorization for further training as a specialist in laboratory medicine and as a clinical chemist. Since 2014, the revision course “Clinical Chemistry for the further training of clinical chemists and laboratory physicians” of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL), which is organized by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Lichtinghagen, has been held in Hanover.
